    Sunday Theme Classes: The WINTER-JUMP Sessions – 5.1, 12.1 & 19.1

    Hepcats Copenhagen is excited to invite you to participate in 1, 2 or 3 two-hour Sunday classes, taking place just before Sunday Swing kicks off. Classes are taught by some of the most experienced dancers in Copenhagen, and targets everyone with a solid basic in place - it’s a great opportunity to try different teachers and expand your dance vocabulary.

    Practical info

    Classes take place just before Sunday Swing
    • Where: Kulturhuset Indre By, Salen
    • When: Above Sundays, from 1-3 p
    • Who: All swing dancers in CPH area, with 3 rounds, corresponding to approx 3+ months of active dancing experience at any CPH dance community. More on requirements below (note: For Shim Sham Class, less can do).
    • Price: You can sign up for all 3 classes at DKK 300, or choose individual classes at DKK/each 125.
    • Membership: If you don't have one, you'll also need a Membership for Spring 2025. It’s 60 DKK only.
    Note: You can add several individual classes to the shopping cart before completing check-out :)

    Class descriptions

    The WINTER-JUMP Sessions are taught by some of the most experienced teachers in Copenhagen. Most sessions are taught by teachers with more than 20 years of dancing experience, dating back from the early days of Hepcats Copenhagen.

    19.01 - Fast-paced Lindy Hop Routine

    Having attended many-many international workshops across Europe and in Asia, Hanna & Sune will dust off a cool Lindy Hop routine to the sounds of KEEP ON JUMPING. It’s gonna be fast and fun, yet managable for all with at least one season of classes under their belt.
    Requirements: Hepcats Intermediate or similar (at least one season / 3 rounds of dancing experience).
    Note that while original music is fast, we will adjust speed to match the class level.

    Can I join the classes?

    These classes target dancers with a solid 8-count LindyHop & Charleston basic, presumably 3+ rounds of active dancing, enabling you to follow Intermediate level classes or higher at Hepcats, Swingshoes or Happy Feet.

    'Beginners-Intermediate' This class is the continuation class for the Hepcats Beginner class. In this class we will continue to build on your basics and add a bunch of fun-filled variations to your swing dance repertoire. We will help expand your Lindy Hop vocabulary by working on charleston, 6-count styling,  different swing out variations, explore the world of technique and teaching you some classic and playful moves. Moves known and used by Lindy hoppers everywhere and with deep roots in the history of Swing dance. Join us to learn the moves for the first time or sign up if you want to brush them up to get them present in your social dancing. Get ready for fun and rhythms coupled with technique that will make you more comfortable while dancing. We look forward to dancing with you!

    Minimum level requirement

    This class is the continuation class for people who have been through Hepcats LindyHop Beginners level, or have 5-8 weeks of experience at other swing dance communities. We expect you to be familiar with basic moves like swing out, circle, Charleston and six-count moves. Prior dancing at Hepcats is not a requirement. We welcome all dancers as long as you meet the requirements outlined above.

    Write your partners email address in the "with a partner" box when signing up. Please note that your partner must also register separately for the same class and note your email on their order. Note that we change partners often during class. See FAQ for more information about this.

    'Lindy Hop: Intermediate-Experienced' This class is the continuation class for the Hepcats Intermediate class. In this class we will build on your what you learned during your Intermediate class, adding new fun variations while continuing to build confidence, musicality and flow in your basic steps and moves. New steps and combinations are on this level hopefully more a challenge than a threat, and on this level you will begin to adapt your dance to the music and will get quite a respectful catalogue of moves that you can execute successfully on the dance floor. You will learn new and more advanced variations and the tempo will be (even) higher. We look forward to dancing with you!

    Minimum level requirement

    This class is the continuation class for people who have been through at least 1-2 rounds of Hepcats Intermediateor have ≈ 25 weeks of experience at other swing dance communities. We expect you to be familiar with basic moves like swing out, circle, Charleston and six-count moves. Prior dancing at Hepcats is not a requirement. We welcome all dancers as long as you meet the requirements outlined above.

    SoloJazz: Beginners-to-Intermediate (23/1 – 27/2)

    Information 'SoloJazz for Beginners with 6+ weeks of LindyHop Experience' Perhaps you’ve learned the Shim Sham and are hungry for more of the same? Perhaps you think it’s time to revisit solo jazz? Perhaps you’re just curious? Anyway: Solo jazz (also known as Authentic Jazz)  is a great and fun way to move to jazz and swing music. It also helps you grow as a Lindy hopper and makes partner dancing even more enjoyable. In this class we will work on some of the most basic jazz steps from the swing era and put them together in short and manageable routines. Steps like

    • Apple Jacks
    • Fall of the log
    • Eagle slide
    • Jump charleston. 
    In this class you will learn basic Jazz rhythms, steps, and easily doable combinations that you can dance alone or put into your Lindy Hop. Come and join us - bring open minds and happy feet (and a bottle of water). We look forward to dancing with you!
    Minimum level requirement This is a class for total jazz beginners. You do not need any previous experience with solo jazz to join this class, but experience with swing or another dance is expected. We expect you to practice during the week when possible, so that a progression can be seen and felt in your dance - so that you get the most out of our classes. Prior dancing at Hepcats is not a requirement, we welcome all Lindy Hoppers as long as you meet the requirements outlined above.
