Minimum level requirement
This is a class aimed at Lindy Hop dancers who have aspirations of becoming a Lindy Hop teacher.
You are expected to have a high passion for dancing – you go to regular classes, attend workshops and regularly go social dancing. Or maybe you have in the past but have a reached a point where you want to try something new.
No matter which experience you have, bring high energy and a drive for wanting to teach. You are expected to do homework and be active outside of the classroom.
Prior dancing at Hepcats is not a requirement, we welcome all Lindy Hoppers as long as you meet the requirements outlined above. If you are in doubt about the requirements, please contact Hannah at [email protected]
If we are in any doubt if you meet the requirements, you will be contacted directly.
This is a class for Lindy Hoppers who would like to teach Lindy Hop themselves one day – whether it be “Learn The Moves” (small introduction classes) or regular Lindy Hop classes.
Our main goal of this class is to give you an indication of if teaching Lindy Hop is for you and to give you tools and practical experience with teaching.
Hannah has been teaching Lindy Hop in Copenhagen and abroad for more than 16 years and will share her knowledge and experiences, giving you many things to reflect upon and practical information on how to teach a class.
You will also get chances to teach yourself during class and we will look for opportunities for you to go out and teach in “the real world”. You will also get the possibility to shadow other classes where you can see different teaching styles.
This class requires dedication to meet up every week, be active in the class’ Facebook group and also to complete homework on a weekly basis. You are expected to be just as prepared as your teacher is every week.
During the course you will also get personal feedback on your own dancing and teaching techniques. Do not expect to learn new Lindy Hop variations – this is solely a teaching class.
Hannah will also invite guest teachers to come who have experience in different areas of teaching e.g. fundamental pedagogic theory.
***Please note that this course does not automatically qualify you for teaching at Hepcats or any other association/dance school***
